Skin Beautifying Green Smoothie

I was cleaning out my fridge of produce that was about to go bad. Inadvertently created the most tasty, skin glowing, detoxifying and debloating greens drink ever!
Basically every skin problem, to a certain degree, starts from inflammation, free-radical damage and toxins accumulating in the body. So to combat skin ailments from acne to wrinkles, you need to infuse your body with anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant rich and detoxifying nutrients.

Fresh turmeric root β contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components, which calms skin flare ups.
Fresh ginger root β contains antioxidant properties that prevent free radical damage and protect against aging.
Cilantro contains C. sativum which protects the skin against ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation damage. Chlorophyll the green pigment in plants is a natural detoxifier, blood builder and reduces skin inflammation and bacterial overgrowth in the skin.
Mint leaves are a good source of vitamin A which regulate sebum production to reduce acne. Mint leaves also help flush out excess water retention preventing a puffy face.
Romaine lettuce is a good source of vitamin C, helps build collagen.
Cucumbers are cooling and soothes inflamed skin. Cucumbers are also a good source of silica which stimulates collagen production for strengthening hair and nails, and for firmer and smoother skin
Apples are a good source of quercetin a natural flavonoid concentrated in the skin, has anti-allergic and calming properties for reactive skin
Avocado is rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acids which moisturizes the skin from within and gives a natural lustre to the skin.
Skin beautifying Greens Smoothie recipe
makes 2 servings
(Buy organic ingredients whenever possible especially for the apple and cucumber since the nutrients are concentrated in the skin where most of the beneficial nutrients are found)
Ingredients:
- 1 inch fresh turmeric root, peeled and chopped
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, peeled and chopped
- a small handful of cilantro
- a small handful of mint leaves
- 2 cups of romaine lettuce
- 1/2 cucumber (keep peel on if organic)
- 1 apple, cored and sliced (keep peel on if organic)
- 1/2 large avocado or 1 small avocado
- 2 cups water
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a blender. Turn on blender and blend until smooth (less than 1 minute). Add ice cubes or more water if desired.
